Research findings
There is no, or insufficient provenance information known about this object from the period 1933-1945. After investigation, no sources have been found to date that can provide information to complete its provenance in the period. Therefore, no conclusions can be made regarding possible suspicious provenance or involuntary loss of ownership.
The provenance is inconclusive. It is not known how, when or under what circumstances H. Schieffer from Amsterdam acquired this painting. It is not certain that it was in Schieffer's possession. It is also unknown how, when or under what circumstances H.P. Doodeheefver from Hilversum acquired the painting. Doodeheefver consigned the painting to art dealer P. de Boer, who sold it to Dr Hupp for the Düsseldorf Museum in February 1942.
