[nl]
From the provenance research into the period 1933-1945, indications have emerged that suggest possible involuntary loss of ownership.
The provenance of this painting is unclear. At present, there are no leads for conducting further research into the provenance of this object for the period from 1933 to 1945. It is unknown how, when and under what circumstances W.F. Goerz of Rijswijk (presumably the art dealers Goerz and Kayser, The Hague) acquired this object. At an unknown date, Goerz sold this painting to the art dealers Paffrath in Düsseldorf. W.F. Goerz was district leader (Kreisleiter) of the NSDAP in The Hague. There are indications that his partner, Kayser, traded Jewish property to the Germans/Wehrmacht. However, it is not clear whether this relates to works of art that Kayser traded through the Goerz and Kayser art dealership, or whether this piece was traded in that manner.
