Research findings
From the provenance research into the period 1933-1945, indications have emerged that suggest possible involuntary loss of ownership.
The provenance is inconclusive. This object was examined in conjunction with other purchases made by Galerie Zinckgraf in Munich. Of the eleven NK works, seven show indications of potentially problematic provenance, including inscriptions of addresses and common Jewish names. The word “Meyer” is written on the back of this painting. It is unknown who Meyer was, when this person owned the painting and when it was lost. It is also unknown how, when and under what circumstances Galerie Zinckgraf acquired this object in the Netherlands during the war. At present, there are no leads for further research into the provenance of this object for the period from 1933 to 1945.
