Research findings
The provenance of the painting is unclear since the identity of the person who consigned it to Fred. A. van Braam's auction in 1943 is no longer known.
This painting passed through Fred. A. van Braam's auction house in Amsterdam during the war. This firm may have auctioned confiscated property in the war years. M. Calisch's Two Women in Italian Costume (inv. no. SK-A-4181) at the Rijksmuseum, was probably also sold at a Van Braam sale in 1943.
De herkomst van dit schilderij is niet helder, omdat het onbekend is wie dit schilderij heeft ingebracht op de veiling bij Fred. A. van Braam in 1943. [nl]
Dit schilderij is verhandeld in de oorlogsperiode door veilinghuis Fred. A. van Braam, Amsterdam. Het is mogelijk dat dit veilinghuis in oorlogstijd geconfisqueerd bezit heeft geveild. Het schilderij M. Calisch, Twee vrouwen in Italiaanse dracht (inv.nr. SK-A-4181) van het Rijksmuseum wordt waarschijnlijk ook aangeboden op een veiling in 1943 van veilinghuis Van Braam. [nl]
