Since it is unclear how, when, and from whom Hans Alfred Wetzlar acquired this painting, its provenance is uncertain. This painting was part of his collection until 1943.

H.A.Wetzlar sometimes helped Jewish relations by buying objects from them, paying in cash. Because this painting was donated to rather than acquired by a museum the situation is less alarming.
De herkomst van dit schilderij is niet helder, omdat het onbekend is van wie, hoe en op welk moment Hans Alfred Wetzlar dit schilderij heeft verworven. Het is alleen bekend dat het tot 1943 in zijn collectie was. [nl]
