When and how this painting was acquired by the museum is no longer known.

Question marks are written beside the options loan, purchase or gift, on the inventory card completed in February 1949. Under further information, the writer notes: 'Left during the war in S.M. (Gift?)' A label on the reverse of the painting states: 'L.P. Oudewaal & zoon, Kazernestraat 114 A, The Hague – Lijstenmaker.'
Het is onbekend wanneer en hoe dit schilderij in het museum terecht is gekomen. [nl]

Op de inventariskaart die werd ingevuld in februari 1949 staan vraagtekens achter de voorgedrukte vakjes 'bruikleen', 'gekocht' en 'geschenk'. Achter 'Verdere bijzonderheden' staat: 'in oorlogsjaren achtergebleven in S.M. (Geschenk?)'. Op de achterkant van het schilderij is een etiket aangebracht met de tekst: 'L.P. Oudewaal & zoon, Kazernestraat 114 A, Den Haag – Lijstenmaker.' [nl]
