This painting was part of a collection belonging to Bernhard Albert Mayer of Mainz, who may have been forced by political circumstances in Germany to sell his collection.
On 25 June 1934, Paul Graupe auction house sold the painting collection of Bernhard Albert Mayer of Mainz. This may have been Dr Bernhard Albert Mayer (1866-1947), a Jewish jeweller who lived in Mainz and served as president of the Jewish community from 1908 to 1941. He emigrated to Argentina in 1941.

Op 25 juni 1934 werd bij veilinghuis Paul Graupe de schilderijencollectie geveild van Bernhard Albert Mayer, Mainz. Mogelijk gaat het hier om dr. Bernhard Albert Mayer (1866-1947), een joodse juwelier die in Mainz woonde en tussen 1908-1941 president van de joodse gemeenschap was. Hij emigreerde in 1941 naar Argentinië. [nl]
