This painting entered the collection of the museum with the acquisition of the estate of D.G. van Beuningen in 1958, who had acquired the painting from the art dealer Jacques Goudstikker in 1939. It seems to have been in the collection of the German-Jewish businessman and art collector Otto Blumenfeld in 1926 until a currently unknown date after 1930. Het is niet bekend wanneer en onder welke omstandigheden dit schilderij uit de collectie van de Duits-Joodse ondernemer en kunstverzamelaar Otto Blumenfeld raakte.

Dit schilderij kwam in de collectie van het museum met de aankoop van de nalatenschap van D.G. van Beuningen in 1958, die het op zijn beurt kocht van kunsthandelaar Jacques Goudstikker in 1939.
